ABOUT
THE PAWHUSKA BANK HOTEL: This new hotel will be a luxury boutique establishment. It will have a grand 2-story lobby, boutique shops, a bar, coffee shop/cafe, and a limited number of large upscale hotel rooms on the upper floors. There will be a focus on the bank theme and ALL historical details will be preserved. The new use of the building will be designed around the existing original elements. Nothing original will be gutted, demolished, or removed. Instead, those elements will dictate the design.
The concept of this hotel was imagined over 6 years ago in 2017. Finally, after winning the auction of the building for a second time in 2023 after a long organized effort, the new ownership has the green light to proceed.
LOCATION: Located downtown at the intersection of 6th and Kihekah in the beautiful historical city of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, this former bank building stands as a prominent structure that invokes the feel of a grand commercial building in a much larger city.
HISTORICAL BUILDING: The building was built in 1927 and housed the Citizens National Bank. It is 5 stories high and had various offices on the upper floors. There were many different doctors and lawyers and other professionals in the upper offices of the building over the years.
THE RESTORATION: The restoration of the building will be done in a very careful manner that will focus on actual restoration of the original elements, not gutting and replacing. This kind of detailed preservation is rare in the United States, and especially rare in small towns like Pawhuska.
